The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for
the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998.

Employers, Small Medium Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), Cooperatives, TVET/CET Colleges and
other stakeholders in the sector are invited to submit their applications for the following
projects:

Intervention:

1. Mine Community Development Project:

Targeted beneficiaries for the training intervention

1.Benefiaries intended for this trainig intervention should be ex-mine workers, retrenched mine workers or mine workers who are about to be retrenched.

2. Unemployed Youth Development Project:

Targeted beneficiaries for the training intervention

2.Beneficiaries for this intervention should be unemployed youth in rural mining communities and/or labour sending areas.

Intervention:

3. Placement of TVET College Learners in Workplaces:

Targeted beneficiaries for the training intervention

3.TVET learners who require a workplace exposure program to graduate from
a TVET Colleges in and outside of the mining and minerals sector.

 

Who may apply?

  • MQA registered levy paying employers with adequate and appropriate infrastructure, as well as human
    resources which will enable implementation of the project.
  • MQA registered Levy exempted organisations with adequate and appropriate infrastructure, as well as
    human resources which will enable implementation of the project.
  • MQA Levy paying or levy exempted employers who have valid and signed SLAs with MQA registered
    levy paying employers or MQA levy exempted organisations wherein the employer will take
    responsibility for the hosting of learners for Work Integrated Learning.
  • Organisations such as Public/Private/NPO/NGO/CBO that are able to deliver on MQA specific or
    special projects.

4. Small Business and/or Cooperatives Support:

Targeted beneficiaries for the training intervention

4.Funding will be allocated to provide training and or financial support to small businesses and registered cooperatives to grow or sustain their businesses.

 

Who may apply?

  • Small businesses registered with MQA who are 100% owned by South African Citizens.
  • Small businesses operating in Mining Communities/areas (100% owned by South African Citizens).
  • Registered cooperatives.

requirements:
a) Name of Business;
b) Business registration details;
c) Business ownership details;
d) Type of business;
e) The sector in which the business is operating;
f) Profile of the employees;
g) Submission of the following supporting documents:
– CIPC registration certificate;
– A report of employees of the company and their citizen status;
– Tax clearance certificate
– Proof of UIF compliance
– Proof of registered address
